It's that time of year once again! A magical time, when you can enjoy a gourmet, three-course meal for less than $40. I am, of course, referring to Baton Rouge's illustrious Restaurant Week! I'm sure we're all at least somewhat familiar with Restaurant Week but, for those who may not be, it's a week when the best restaurants in Baton Rouge showcase their delicious talents - at a significant discount. Every year, this proves to be a fantastic week for both Baton Rouge natives and visitors alike to enjoy the tastes our city has to offer and there is no doubt that this year will follow suit.
Almost 60 locations in the Baton Rouge area will be participating in this year's Restaurant Week and I'm excited to see a couple of my favorites on the menu! This year, Restaurant Week will take place Monday July 23rd through Saturday July 28th.

Kalurah Street Grill - 3 Courses, $30
K Street Candy Bar

The Kalurah Street Grill is a fairly new addition to the Baton Rouge restaurant community but it is quickly gaining attention for its unique and delicious menu. I was recently fortunate enough to enjoy a Chef's dinner at Kalurah Street Grill that featured  the Candy Bar for dessert. This sweet-tooth's dream come true is a "candy bar" containing layers of salted caramel, nougat, chocolate walnut mousse, and rice krispies that, when combined, create a treat to die for! Even though I know I could make a meal out of this one dish, it is only one option for just one of the three courses offered by the Kalurah Street Grill during Restaurant Week! Click here to head on over to EAT Baton Rouge and check out the full Restaurant Week menu at Kalurah Street Grill, which is located at 2857 Perkins Road!

Mansurs On the Boulevard - 3 Courses, $35
Duck Mansur

Unlike the Kalurah Street Grill, which is a newbie to the Baton Rouge restaurant community, Mansurs on the Boulevard is practically a household name in the area. I've always loved the atmosphere at Mansurs, whether for a date night with the hubby or  a lively lunch with my girlfriends. My favorite dish here, which I was very glad to see on their Restaurant Week menu, is the Duck Mansur. This roasted, boneless duckling in a Chambord blackberry demi-glace served over creamy, Parmesan risotto is actually a gourmet twist on one of my family recipes; it's my Eastern European comfort food! Maybe duck just isn't your thing? No problem. There are four other delicious options for the second course (out of three) in Mansurs on the Boulevard's Restaurant Week offerings, which can be found here. If you're looking for Mansurs on the Boulevard, you'll find it's entrance under a black awning at 5720 Corporate Boulevard.

Some other locations that are participating this year include Voodoo BBQ, Mason's Grill, Rock N Roll Sushi, Mike Anderson's, Superior Grill, and so many more! The prices for these meals range from as low as $15 up to $40 and the complete list can be found on the EAT Baton Rouge website. Another great reason - as if you really need it - to participate in this year's Restaurant Week is to show off the incredible food on social media, which can help raise money to feed the less fortunate members of our community! That's right, every time you post a picture of a Restaurant Week meal on Instagram with the tag #eatBR the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will receive a $2 donation up to a total of $5000! Now you can give back just by enjoying a great meal at a great price and then bragging about it to your friends on Instagram.
